Founded in 1892. Shortly after slavery, a band of fifteen God-fearing Christians organized a prayer group that went from home to home to conduct prayer services for there was no visible structure. The fifteen being; Perry and Jane Jones, Joshua and Celia Bell, Clinton and Lisa Jean Pearson, Hilliard Simmons, Annie Simmons, Nicia Simmons, Venus Simmons, Jim and Minerva Barber and Annias and Mary Jones. They came to the conclusion that a structure most be erected. Most of the original building still stands including the original bell. It is almost impossible to sum up the entire history of this great church which covers so many periods, and yet it must be mentioned that many bishops, presiding elders and ministers have given of themselves unselfishly to make the church what it is today.
